OpenShop™ DS - Retailer Edition
This package is aimed at retailiers who are looking to spend less time updating their shops manually from supplier lists, zip files of images and various feeds. We found that this is one of the most time consuming parts of running an online shop and wanted to make this a lot easier.
If your supplier is using OpenShop DS Supplier edition you can update your product listings as often as you like with a SINGLE click.
When you click the 'Update Now' button in the backend management system of your OpenShop Retailer Edition, your site will :
1. Check your current product listing and when it was last updated.
2. Check when the last update was created by your supplier who is using OpenShop DS also
3. Download any new product data such as categories, descriptions, prices and images to your OpenShop database and update
4. Check which products are discontinued and delete from your shop OpenShop database
5. Record when the update was performed and save (see point 1).
This can save hours of searching for products on your supplier sites and hours of data entry that we have found makes dropshipping more labour intensive than it could be.
Manual updating is still supported for suppliers that do not have a compatible OpenShop DS (Supplier Edition) system.

OpenShop™ DS - Supplier Edition
This package is aimed at the serious supplier who is looking to start their planned project or move their existing supplier site to the next level of productivity and reduce the amount of support required to their retailers when dealing with your updates.
As per retailers, you are constantly finding and adding new stock lines, discontinuing, discounting, editing item descriptions and prices.
After numerous requests we worked with a large supplier to the Dropship industry to create a central (Supplier Edition) site that could be updated and then pass that information to satelite shops (Retailer Edition) that are compatible with the Supplier shop when the satelite shop owner clicked an update button. When clicking the update button, it was specified that the satelite shops would be automatically updated according to the suppplier database.
This would eliminate the need for their retailers to spend hours delving through xml files for descriptions and searching for images.
XML feed generation is of course also supported for your retailers that do not have a compatible OpenShop DS (Retail Edition) system.
